Syllabus #95

Guys, I'm tired.  Just period, full stop.  Tired.

Does this tongue make you uncomfortable?  Yes or yes?

Virginia is for weed lovers.  Or it will be.  Someday.  See also:  They were gonna legalize recreational weed, but they then they got high.

We can dream, but if they did this in Nashville it would just make more space for scooters and pedal taverns

For anyone who is still asking why there's a Black History Month (you deserve a slap upside the head and not an informative article, but here it is nonetheless).  Or for anyone who wonders, perhaps rightly, why February, the shortest month?

I feel like as an objectively thin person, I don't get to say this, but it speaks to how pervasive body hatred and diet culture are:  when Julia states that she's only ever felt happy or fat, I feel pretty much the same way.  Except maybe replace happy with 'less disgusted with life than usual.'

Oh the Places You'll Blow.  Charles Blow on why the racist tropes in Dr. Seuss books are so harmful, and shouldn't be consumed by children.

And like, maybe Theodore Geisel wasn't a stone cold monster but he wasn't the best guy.

Analog Reading:

Finished Everywhere You Don't Belong by Gabriel Bump.

Reading Ijeoma Oluo's Mediocre.  It's making me mad, in a good way.  It's like Oluo spread out all the pages of American history and went through with her big yellow Bullshit Highlighter, marking all the ways white dudes ruined things by making it all about them, and by half-assing things because, by virtue of being white and a dude, they aren't used to having to try that hard.
