The Isolation Journals - Day 71

Prompt:  What do you hope to carry forward from the quarantine? It need not be as concrete as reading or planning menus or painting. Sometimes the intangible is the most real.

The Things I Will Carry:  An Alliterative List (in no particular order)

Sourdough - The irony that the thing giving me so much life is the byproduct of airborne particles, during a pandemic that is spread by...airborne particles...is just, think about it, it's weird, right?

Slowness - It's been a luxury and a privilege to be unhurried.  I know that hasn't been a fact of this time for everyone, but I am grateful to have had time.

Slovenliness - Look, personal hygiene is important but it's not a fashion show, y'all.  I wasn't bopping around like a Kardashian in the before-times, but I liked to go out with a little bit of face on. I have put on makeup exactly once since March 16th.  It was for our anniversary date, and I couldn't bring myself to do more than mascara.  I dumped out my makeup bag and it was like entering a sealed chamber in an Egyptian pyramid.  Funny to see what the ancients thought was important.  I was like Ariel in The Little Mermaid, impressed but clueless about the function of any of it.  "Look at this stuff, isn't it neat!"

Socialism - Yea, I said it.  Universal healthcare and a universal basic income woulda been reeeaal nice.  A functioning, accessible healthcare system (without the racial disparities of our current mess), one that allows people to maintain health rather than react to severe illness when it's almost too late, would have prevented many needless COVID deaths in those individuals with co-morbidities like diabetes and heart disease.

Scribing - I know I'm not alone in hoping to keep up a daily writing habit!
