Ice Bear followup

I've received some questions about the logistics of Ice Bear.  My mom, for one, is very concerned.  She has to worry about something, and since I'm not hanging out in Camden and riding the River Line anymore, rapists and drug dealers are off her list of potential dangers.  Bears are probably the most realistic threat to my safety in Idaho.  So yes, mom, Ice Bear is probably real.

Ice Bear forms his ice shield because it insulates his body from the extreme cold that he would normally avoid by hibernating.  Not because he's trying to create his own bulletproof body shield.

But mom, don't worry.  It would have to be really cold for a thick, bulletproof ice shield to form before most of the the water drips off the bear's oily coat.  If I encounter any bears this winter, they will just be regular angry bears who are still vulnerable to bullets.  That being said, unless a bear wanders into town and up to my door to politely ask for food, the likelihood of a bear encounter is slim to none, for I too, intend to hibernate this winter.

On that note, let us never speak of ice, snow, or temperatures below 70 degrees Fahrenheit ever again.  The thought of such cold is too terrible to...bear.
